Pretty sure I've got everything set up right. Might be relevant that php was updated today.

That's correct, there was a bug in version 3.3.a1. Please use developer's release 683 or later, available from https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/developer-releases/akeebapro.html

Same problem for me, even with svn683.
Here is the message I get:

AEUtilAmazons3::putObject(): [77] error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /home/drainage/public_html/administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/assets/cacert.pem CApath: none

Does the file administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/assets/cacert.pem exist on your site? If not, you have a partial installation of Akeeba Backup and you have to re-install it.

No, this file doesn't exist. I tried to reinstall several times AkeebaBackup, did even a clean install. No success.

I installed the same svn683 version on another site and the transfer to Amazon S3 works, even if there is no assets/cacert.pem created in administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/.

Very strange...

I am uploading developer's release 686 which should solve this issue. It seems that the file was never copied to the package, that's why it was never being installed.
