Have upgraded to 3.3.a1 to allow the CLI override of more variables and now receive the following error
PHP Fatal error:  Class 'AEUtilTranslate' not found in /www/somesite.co.uk/www/administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup.php on line 304
This is under Joomla 1.5.23 and PHP 5.3.6.

You have a partial installation of the component. You must install the component again, without uninstalling the old version first. If you get any kind of error messages, Akeeba Backup won't work.

You are certainly missing files. Do you have a file named administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/plugins/utils/translate.php in your site?

No that directory is empty. I have now removed the component and re-installed and all is okay now.

Is it this release that the following parameters can be overriden as it does not appear to work still :(

akeeba.basic.output_directory
akeeba.basic.temporary_directory
akeeba.basic.archive_name

Confirmed. I am working on a fix. I will let you know of my results on the other thread you started about this issue.
