After restoration of my site everything works except the backend menus. I can not select anything.

I tried to use the My menus no longer work link before posting this however akeebas link is broken. https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/troubleshooter/post-restoration.html

So i am now posting this in the forums. Any suggestions on what went wrong. Here is my site: http://www.mynuffworld.com/nrl2010joomla/ it is joomla version 1.5.22 on godaddy servers.

It is an old site and i would like it to be available to members for reference.

Thanks,
Stephen Mahannah

This sounds like a permissions issue or a Javascript bug. Try setting all folder permissions to 0755 and all files permissions to 0644 using an FTP client, e.g. FileZilla. If this fails, please send me a Personal Message with the URL to your site and Super Admin login details so that I can take a look. In that case, please include a link back to this post, otherwise I won't know what your PM is referring to. Thanks!

from a random inspection all files are 755 and 644. Also wanted to clarify. The drop down menus in backed don't work. like site. menues. content. components. etx. etc.

i used another joomla site to find the address to certain files like the site-global configuration. when i use the manual typed link to it. the site-system-server pages seem to be showing all on one page.

You were entirely missing the mootools.js file. You must have deleted this file. It doesn't just go away by itself and Admin Tools certainly doesn't touch it (not to mention that it needs it). I just enabled the mooTools upgrade plugin which includes a newer version of that Javascritp file and your site is back to normal.

Huh. Yup must have accidentally deleted it. Not really sure how it got lost. But either way i appreciated it. I would not have ever found that one out.

Again Thanks.

Nicholas-

Glad this appears to be a "current" issue. I just restored my site (relocated it from a working directory to production) - same issue - all of my administrative menus no longer work, but they worked perfectly in the production environment.

Any ideas?

my site is www.ltveh.org

Thanks.
-Seth

btw - I checked for all instances of mootools.js in my old directory and verified that they exist in the new directory... could this be a permissions issue?

Seth, I think it's a server issue. Trying to access http://www.ltveh.org/media/system/js/mootools.js it returns a "400: Unimplemented method" error page. Considering that I used my browser, therefore a simple GET method, I'd say that's a server configuration issue.

But I can't figure out why it worked before I created the backup, and after I restored it, it doesn't work.

By server implementation issue, what are you referring? As I mentioned, is it a permissions issue, some kind of access, etc?

This all worked perfectly from the build, it's the backup that caused the issue.

I looked up the error with Apple, and apparently it has to do with having "wiki" enabled within the server - I disabled it and it works fine now. Just not sure why this wasn't a problem with the build site and only the production site.... strange behavior.

Sorry for the incorrect assumption.

No worries. I only trust what FireBug tells me, not what I assume; that's why I may seem so absolute in my problem diagnoses sometimes ;)
