Hi,

I am moving to a new web host. I've backed up a website ant its database and downloaded the backup file in binary mode.

I've uploaded this to to one of my websites httpdocs on my new server. I have more than one website!

I also uploaded the Kickstart php file.

But how do I run the Kickstart file when the website is not active yet because I have not changed the Name Servers?

The idea is to clone the website and its database to another server, then change the Name Servers.

Anyone?

Think out of the box ;) Your Joomla! site doesn't really know which domain is being accessed from. As a result, temporarily assigning any domain name you own on the new hosting plan will allow you to restore and test the site before going live.

So, if you have a domain name you don't use, assign it to the new hosting package and perform the restoration and all necessary tests. Then, when you are ready, remove that temporary domain name from the new host and assign the old site's domain to the new host.
