I tried to back up my site today and it failed. I assumed that it was because I needed to download the latest version so I update it and it still fails. Please help. Attached is the error log file.##text##

It looks like your backup failed due to a time-out, try setting the following options in the Akeeba Backup Configuration page:
- Minimum execution time: 1s
- Maximum execution time: 7s
- Bias: 65%

Your problem is that you are using the system-wide temporary directory, /tmp, which is being emptied every few minutes:
INFO |101118 07:27:57|Temporary directory:/tmp
The problem with that is that Akeeba Backup writes a "memory" file in the temporary directory, as well as store temporary files with your database dump. When the server empties that directory, these files are gone and, naturally, the backup crashes in flames. It's the web equivalent of pulling the hard drive off your PC.

The solution is rather simple. Go to your Akeeba Backup Configuration page and type in the following to the temporary directory edit box, including the brackets: [DEFAULT_OUTPUT]

This will instruct Akeeba Backup to use the same directory for storing the backup archives and its temporary memory files. Since that directory is not being emptied periodically, Akeeba Backup will be able to find its memory and temporary files without a problem and should be able to complete the backup process.
