When I accessed your website today, I was surprised to see there was a critical security update, and I was not notified. Is there some kind of newsletter or e-mail list I can subscribe to so I can get an e-mail notification when a new version is available?

The best way is to monitor the @akeebabackup Twitter stream as all releases are announced in there. The other option is to subscribe to the RSS feed of our home page. On each and every release we are posting a release announcement which is automatically pushed to the RSS feed.

Well, I'm older, so I don't tweet. Also, RSS is too passive. I guess I need a poke in the eye or a knock on the head!

:-)

Maybe you guys could add a Product Updates forum, and that way we can subscribe to all posts in that forum?

Just a thought...

Of course, I missed the easiest and obvious choice. Duh! You can always subscribe to email delivery of our RSS feed, thanks to FeedBurner's awesome service. Just subscribe your email address in there and when we release new software you get an email message notification. Clicking on it gets you to the release announcement page which also contains direct links to downloads. I think that's the best solution :)
