Hi, I have a backup profile with FTP as final action and it works perfectly when invoked manually. The "part size for split archive" is around 30 Mb.
With this profile invoked via command line (backup.php in cron) it always fails. I tried to lower the split size from 30 to 20 and to 10 and no change. The log says
.....
DEBUG |101106 15:58:54|
DEBUG |101106 15:59:03|
ERROR |101106 15:59:04|Akeeba has timed out
ERROR |101106 15:59:04|KETTENRAD_TIMEOUT
DEBUG |101106 15:59:04|

I see no file being written to the ftp location, so maybe the timeout is not related to the split size?
What to do?
Thanks
Giuse

As documented you have to use the PHP CLI binary. You are using the PHP CGI binary which has a time limit of 30 seconds and causes the backup process to fail. Please ask your host for the absolute path to the PHP CLI binary and use it in your CRON command line.

In the documentation page I linked you to, there is more information about what you have to do on cPanel hosts. If your host is using cPanel, please try that first before asking your host about the PHP CLI binary.

In all fairness, very few users read it through. I am glad I could help :)
