I get the above message when trying to backup my test and production systems, however the development system works fine...

Sorry to hear you are having issues, could you please zip and post your backup log. That will give us some additional information about what is going on.

When attaching logs after being requested to do so, please post them in a new message. Otherwise we don't get notified and it's possible that your request will slip through.

Back to the problem. Have you set up any Extra Database Definitions? If so, did you accidentally try to connect to the same database as the one Joomla! uses? If this is the case, please delete that extra database definition as it is not required; Akeeba Backup will automatically backup the database used by your site without having to set up an extra definition.

I submitted the log with the original message.

I checked and there was an additional db def defined, removed it and all is now well.
