Hi.
I try to download the latest Backup Pro v3.1.b3 but getting an error that the download site is not reachable or not responding.

Any suggestions?

Are you using Internet Explorer? Some users reported problems with IE7 and earlier. If nothing else works, Firefox should.

I am using IE8 x64, downloading the latest core version works just fine. In the past i had no problems downloading anything. Could it have anything to do whit the new downloading system you implemented lately?

tnx, Z

I've tried with IE8 on Windows 7 64-bit, no problem spotted. It could also be a clash with your software firewall/antivirus. This could be caused by the new d/l system, albeit it uses a very similar download method as the old one.

Hi Nicholas.

I see you updated to 3.1RC1 but it's still no go, i have turned off my firewall and antivirus but that did'nt help. I installed FF and tryed again but also it's no go. Altough i have no problem whit downloading the core, the Administrator icon module, Lazy scheduling plugin and all the rest, it seems very strange to me that i only have this problem whit the pro version.

The actual error i get is:

index.php from www.akeebabackup.com can not be downloaded.
This website can not be opend. The website you asked for is not available or can not be found. Please try again later.

Can you send me the actual download link by email or PM please, i mean inclusife the filename?

Regards, Z.

I sent it to you by email, but I think the problem is a proxy server between our server and your computer, most probably stripping out the Content-Disposition headers.

I have the same problem with the pro portion of the downloads for RC1.
All the other packagess however seem fine.
This is a home machine for a manual upload and install - no proxy servers in the way in other words running IE8 x64. Same machine with Firefox works fine.

I know I know - shouldn't run IE, but it's a Vista machine and it's just so easy...

IE8 on Windows 7 (sorry, no Vista) on both 32-bit and 64-bit works fine from here. Out of curiosity, have you tried installing all Windows updates? I remember having similar inexplicable problems with some websites a while back until I let Windows update run.

I use a fully updated Windows 7 x64 version, the strange thing is that all except the pro version can be downloaded. The problem started when you guys started to use the new download procedure.

As you suggested i tryed FF and a download manager (Getright) seperately but still it is no go. Surly there is no problem whit the Firewall or my AV i tested it several times whit and without and it make no difference.

I think I found what was causing this issue. I was sending a MIME header which might throw off proxies between our site and your PC. I also found two different Internet Explorer bugs. Apparently, they are fixed in my Windows 7 version if Internet Explorer 8 (32 and 64 bits), but if you turn on the "Compatibility mode" (the "broken page" icon) they kick in, as the IE7 engine is used. I updated the downloads system. Can you please retry and tell me if the issue is now resolved? Thank you!

Great! The RFC states that a MIME header should be sent when you specify the encoding type of a downloadable file but, apparently, proxies and browser had a different opinion. *sigh*
