I don't need to backup because my new web host automatically does it for me. Basically all I need to do is to move my K2 database of items and photos from my development site on my old web site to my new host job. That's all I want to move, and I will happily buy an annual subscription if Akeeba Pro can do that. So, can it? Thanks.

You are much more trusting than I am. If I don't have the backup in my hot little hand, there isn't one.
This site uses K2 and Nicholas uses Akeeba to transfer it to his development servers on a routine basis. So I can give you an unqualified "probably". :) I'll flag this for Nicholas and he can give you more specifics.

You trust your host's backup, huh? A now-defunct blog hosting company used to do the same thing. Of course, when their server experienced a catastrophic power surge they discovered that their backups were also stored in the crashed machine's hard drives and, as you might guess, went out of business. Our host, Rochen, takes two tier backups (nightly on a spare HDD on the same machine and every other day on a NAS) but, still, I feel safer with a backup stored in S3, my hard drive and a flash drive. You can never be paranoid enough about backups :)
What you want to do doesn't require Akeeba Backup or any other tool. First, install K2 on the new site. Then, just use phpMyAdmin to backup all the K2 tables (they have _k2_ in their names, they're hard to miss) from the old server. Restore them on the new site, overwriting the old ones. Finally, use FTP to move files from the images/stories and media/com_k2 directories to the new site. That's all, it's easy and requires no fiddling with backup software at all :) Of course, if you are looking for a repeatable process, i.e. do this every day, you are looking at a custom solution which could be rather expensive to develop and maintain.
