Hi there, love your product, it has never failed me in the past...
Today I have been backing up multiple sites to S3. I get no errors after tweaking the configuration...the files are correctly distributed to the S3 cloud, and are visible in their correct directories.
However, when I go to "administer backup files" i do not see the files because I have selected to delete after the upload.
I guess this is proper, but now I do not know what to do if I should need to use the backup files, or if I wish to move the site to a new server...
So, what do I do if I need to use the backups? Do I manually collect the files to my desktop, then place them back in the joomla file system or what. DO I use jumpstart with the sectioned files? Please guide me to the information for restoration using the S3 files?

dlb
If the backups are moved back to the Output folder, the Obsolete status would be replaced with a current status and you would be able to restore through the Pro version's Administer Backups screen.

The more common way of restoring is to put the backup files in the root of the site and use kickstart to extract the archive. Kickstart is just a glorified extractor, the actual restore code is embedded in the backup archive. You can avoid kickstart by extracting locally (with a zip client or eXtract) and uploading the individual files.

Regarding this same subject, does akeeba also manage the quota files in my S3 bucket or do I have to do it manually ?

I mean if I set only 10 days count quota for my DB backup, in tranches of 5M and postprocessed to be transferred to S3, will akeeba keep only 10 days in my S3 bucket and remove the old ones or not ?

dlb
No, at the current time, Akeeba does not have the ability to manage files in your S3 bucket. You have to manage those files manually.
