Hello,

I hope i'm in the right section for my problem.

Working with Joomla version 1.5.17 and Akeeba Backup Professional 3.0.rc1 (2010-05-20) and Firfox i make a backup with
no warnings. But when i go to the "Administer Backup Files" section and i want to download the file there is a problem.
A blank page tell me that the file is not found.

Do you have an idea why ? I check the right it seem to be ok (no warning of Akeeba).

Thank you for your support.

There was a problem with disappearing backups in earlier releases, but that should be fixed in rc1. The only way Akeeba should automatically delete the backup is if it exceeds the quotas that you have set, or if Remote is set up to delete the backup after downloading. Can you see the file in the Output folder with ftp?

I did not activate "Size Quota" or "Count Quota".

Yes i see 4 files in /administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup

-.htaccess (664)
-akeeba.log (644)
-index.htm (664)
-site-xxxxxxx.com-xxxxx.jpa (755)

Error is (sorry in french)

Firefox ne peut trouver le fichier à l'adresse http://www.xxxx.com/xxx/administrator/index.php.

I dont know were to search ?

Thank you for your support.

What you should be seeing is a warning message that some servers will not download backup files properly using http. Some give error messages, others will fail silently, truncating the archive and resulting in an unrestorable backup file.

The best way to download your backup archive is via ftp in binary mode. Binary mode is important, ASCII mode will corrupt your archive and auto mode makes your ftp client guess, so you don't know what you're getting.

I'll pass the error message on to Nicholas.

I see the warning message that some servers will not download backup files properly.

Strange i see :

Firefox ne peut trouver le fichier à l'adresse http://www.xxx.com/xxx/administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=buadmin&task=download&id=4.

Thank you.

This is a known and well documented issue. There is no known workaround. Besides, as it is also very well documented and you are warned when trying to download a file, the only supported way of downloading your backup archives is using FTP in Binary transfer mode.

Did you actually read my reply?
There is no known workaround.

This means that for some servers it will simply just not work at all, no matter what I may try. I don't know how to put it more simply. There is nothing we can do to fix it. The problem is on the host level. We can't work around it in PHP code.
