I have two Joomla versions of the same site, both Joomla 1.5.15, but one is the new dev site that we are going to turn live this weekend in time for a convention that starts Sunday afternoon. The root site, the one currently viewable, backed up just fine, but the new version failed with the AJAX Loading Error message. I searched on here and saw some suggestions, but they didn't seem to fit what I was seeing... but I'm in no way an expert at what I see.

I've attached the log file, and ask that you review it to see if you can tell what is happening and how I can fix it.. It worked just fine in the old JoomlaPack, but I upgraded to your new Akeeba Pro Backup and now problems.

Thank you for looking, much appreciated.

Pat,

I have seen that error before (the AJAX error is just a generic message, I'm talking about the log) but I don't remember what caused it. I have to refer this to Nicholas.

I know you're under a time crunch, you can still download JoomlaPack from the Downloads menu, if it works, use it. Worst case scenario, download all the files from the site using ftp, upload them to the new location. Export the database using phpMyAdmin, or your host's database manager, and import it to the target site. The last step is to edit the configuration.php file to update the database connection settings to the new database. That should get your site up, the hard way.

I did just that, used the JoomlaPack version and it worked fine. The site has been moved, and all is working fine. Still, I would like to make sure I can use the extension in the future without this problem. I'll be interested in knowing what went wrong.

Thanks!

Nicholas will know when he sees the log. I know I've seen it, but don't remember what it was about. I can't search for it since it is in the log file itself.

As noted in http://www.akeebabackup.com/akeeba-backup-documentation/database-dump-engines.html (under the "Dump PROCEDUREs, FUNCTIONs and TRIGGERs" header) you may need some special MySQL privileges. If your user doesn't have these privileges, e.g. if you're on shared hosting, you can disable dumping these advanced MySQL entities and your backup will work, just like JoomlaPack did.

Just go to the Configuration page and click the "Configure..." button next to the Database Dump Engine setting. In the new pane, make sure "Dump PROCEDUREs, FUNCTIONs and TRIGGERs" is unchecked. Save the configuration and retry backup. If you still run into trouble, please post back your log file.
