Hi Nicholas,

I just tried to download the com_akeeba-3.0.b1-pro.zip file over the update link in backend (administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=update) and got a "Busted!"-site. :-)

Is it probably of special characters in my password?

Regards,

Alex

Your username and password are URL-encoded so that this shouldn't happen. Of course, it all depends on how the browser decides to parse the HREF part of the anchor tag. Which browser did you use?

BTW, if you are already logged in to AkeebaBackup.com the URL will work anyway, as the username/password check is a fallback which only takes place if you are not already logged in (i.e. only if the login cookie doesn't exists, is expired or contains invalid data).

No error when I first log in at akeebabackup.com.

I use Firefox 3.6.3 and IE 8.0 - Error in both.

Please try the following, to help me understand this better. Log in to AkeebaBackup.com and visit the latest releases page. Click on the download link next to the Akeeba Backup Professional item. Does it work? If it doesn't, please copy and paste the link's target URL here. Thanks!

No, I am talking about the component /administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba&view=update

The live update check only works if I login to akeebabackup.com before clicking the check button.

Alex, can you try that with the upgrade to 3.0.b2? The check should run without being logged in, upgrading should run:
a. by clicking the "Update" button as long as you have entered your username and password in the component's Parameters page, or
b. by downloading the archive manually as long as you have entered your username and password in the component's Parameters page or if you are already logged in AkeebaBackup.com

If you can't get it to work, can you take a video of the steps you follow using e.g. Jing? It will help me better understand what is going on. Thanks!
