After upgrading I have this error.

WARNING

jQuery and/or jQuery UI have not been loaded. This usually means that you have to change the permissions of media/com_akeeba and all of its contents to a least 0644. Alternatively, click on "Parameters" and set the source for both of them to "Google AJAX API".

If you do not do that, the component will not work.

I have the same problem. I just upgraded to Akeeba Backup Professional 3.0.a5.1 & get this error message. The file protection on the files in media/com_akeeba is 0644 & the directories are 755. The only way that I could get it to work was to specify in Parameters to use the Google AJAX API. Looking in the source for the webpage it now seems to be downloading the Javascript files from http://www.akeebabackup.com/components/com_agora/js/... Which is OK until your website is down or the network is broken.

This must be a bug as jquery.js is present & readable in /media/com_akeeba/js

Ahem... You are looking at the source of *cough* this forum page *cough*, not your site's back-end backup page. Please, close all of your browser windows. Open a new browser window, go to your site's back-end, click on Extensions, Akeeba Backup. Now, view the page source. The Javascript loads from Google's AJAX API content delivery network. Will Google go ever off-line? If Mayans were right, we'll all go off-line permanently in 2012, otherwise I'm willing to take my chances with Google for many years to come :)

Now, why can't you load the JS from your own site? It's not sufficient to have the folder and file with 0755 permissions. You also have to make sure that your .htaccess file doesn't disallow loading stuff from the media directory. The easy way of finding out if this is the case is to enter the JS URL in your browser. If it throws a 403 or 404 error message, take a look at your .htaccess files.
