I got it this time, :) That's a big log file. How big is your failed backup archive? There is a 2 Gb limit on the file size under a 32 bit operating system. At that point an internal integer field overflows. We can get a backup larger than 2 Gb, but we have to split the archive into parts.

Another possibility is that your host imposes a limit on the file size that a script can create. The failed backup size may give us a clue there as well.
