EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 10MiB, please upload it on your server and post a link to it

I lost STYLES on the back end.  I want to restore version to before that date.  No restore or kickstart seems to work.

I cannot upgrade Joomla because host has old version of MySql

ERROR:

The extraction has failed

Extraction of the backup archive has failed.
The last error message was:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 403 (Forbidden)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 4
Raw server response:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access this resource.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Thanks

Try renaming (not copying!) your .htaccess file to .htaccess.before_restoration and try again.

I renamed .htaccess. .htaccess.before_restoration
I tied to go to to back end
ERROR php version error must be 8.1 or newer to run this version of Joomla.

I put minimum htaccess setting php to 8.3 (288 bytes)

Ran restore again.:

AJAX Error
An error has occurred while waiting for an AJAX response:

I tried on several files all gave the same results. If I selected "start restoration" anyway, I get the following error.

The extraction has failed

Clearing system cache did not help.

First, delete your .htaccess file.

Then, go to your hosting control panel and select your PHP version (8.3 will do just fine).

This creates a .htaccess file which only includes a few short lines to select the PHP version. That's okay.

Now, try to extract the archive.

If you still get the same 403 Forbidden error you will have to contact your host, because they would appear to be blocking the extraction of the backup archive. They can tell you what exactly it is they are blocking, and possibly even make a change so that archive extraction works for you.
