Hi Nicholas,

Please excuse me trying to chat the system, but...

As you will see from my account I have been a long term user of Akeeba for a number of Joomla sites.

I am a trying my hand at WordPress and have downloaded the Backup Core package to copy an existing site to my own server.  All went well until I tried to downlaod the .jpa file using FileZilla.

I get an error message:

Response: 426 Transfer aborted. Operation not permitted
Error: File transfer failed after transferring 0 bytes in 1 second

I don't get this for other files on that server so wonder if it is an problem specific to Akeeba .jpa files.  Please can you help?

It's definitely not a problem specific to the files, this is a problem with the FTP server. I have a suspicion.

First, try setting the transfer mode to Binary instead of AUTO.

If this doesn't work, try renaming the file's extension to .zip and retry the download.

I think the latter will work, and the problem is that the FTP server is configured to only allow specific file types to be transferred. If that's the case, let your host know that files with extensions .jpa, .j01, .j02, … and .z01, .z02, … must also be permitted to be transferred over FTP.

Good morning, Nicholas.

Thank you for your quick reply.  Sadly your suggestions have not fixed the problem.

I have updated the ticket with the hosting company to see if they have any further ideas.

The only one I can think of is if there is a file size restriction.  My .jpa file is around 750Mb.

I am sure we will find a solution eventually, so will keep you updated as and when.  I guess we never stop learning!

I have seen FTP servers with size restrictions, but they usually either applied on upload (annoying – hence Kickstart Pro's download from URL feature, if you were wondering why there's such a random feature in there), or the server disconnected after downloading some of the file. A complete stop at 0 bytes is weird.

Are you sure you have set up passive mode on your FTP client, and made sure that it's permitted to connect to TCP/IP ports other than 21?
