I have purchased and installed the Pro version of A-Backup. I wanted to set up scheduled backups. It appears I need to publish Console - AkeebaBackup plugin. However, it appears I do not have the plugin to install. It does not show in the Joomla - Manage - Plugins items.

Given that situtation how do I get scheduled backup setup.

I am running PHP on a windows server.

Thanks,

John Willems

Have you installed the Akeeba Backup Professional package on your site?

Yes, the current version of Backup Pro is installed.

I am afraid you have not answered my question. The latest version of Akeeba Backup at the time of this writing (December 1st, 2024) is 9.9.11. There are two different editions for the 9.9.11 version: Akeeba Backup Core 9.9.11 and Akeeba Backup Professional 9.9.11.

Akeeba Backup Core is feature-limited, and available for anyone to download (even without a subscription). Among other things, Akeeba Backup Core does not have the backup scheduling features and lacks the plugin you are looking for.

Akeeba Backup Professional is the fully featured edition, available for download only to our subscribers. This edition does have the plugin you are looking for.

You have either accidentally installed the Core edition without realizing, or you have accidentally misused Joomla's plugin manager interface. That's why I asked you which edition you have downloaded.

If you are not sure which edition you have downloaded, log into your site's administrator backend and go to Components, Akeeba Backup for Joomla!, Control Panel. Look under Status Summary. Does it read Akeeba Backup Professional for Joomla!™ 9.9.11 or does it read Akeeba Backup Core for Joomla!™ 9.9.11? Please specify which one.

I am sorry I keep referring to extension as Backup Pro.  I have installed Akeeba Backup Professional for Joomla 4&5. I purchased the current Professional version a couple of days ago.

I cannot find the Console plugin, perhaps I still need to install it?

The goal is have a scheduled backup run on my IIS Windows server.

Log into our site if you have not done so already.

Go to our Download page.

Find the area titled “Akeeba Backup for Joomla! 4 & 5”.

There are two buttons there. Click on the red button reading “Download Pro v.9.9.11”.

You now downloaded a file named pkg_akeebabackup-9.9.11-pro.zip. Please verify that the file you downloaded has the -pro part in its name.

IMPORTANT: If you see multiple ZIP files (e.g. com_akeebabackup.zip, plg_console_akeebabackup.zip, etc) instead of the one ZIP file I described you are using macOS and Safari with its default, bad, and confusing configuration. Open Safari. Click on Safari, Settings in the menu bar. Click on the General tab. Find and uncheck (deselect) the option ‘Open “safe” files after downloading’ which is all the way down the dialog. Close the dialog. Then, repeat the download. You will now have a singular pkg_akeebabackup-9.9.11-pro.zip file.

Go to your site's administrator backend and log in.

Click on the System link in the left hand side toolbar.

Find the Install area and click on Extensions.

Click on the Upload Package File tab.

Click the green “Or browse for file” button.

Locate and select the pkg_akeebabackup-9.9.11-pro.zip file you downloaded earlier.

Once again, click the green “Or browse for file” button. This is a necessary step; we will be installing the package twice to make sure Joomla! does not forget to copy/install any extensions included in the package.

Just like before, locate and select the pkg_akeebabackup-9.9.11-pro.zip file you downloaded earlier.

From the sidebar on the lefthand side find and click on System.

Find the Manage area and click the Plugins link inside it.

There is a Clear button next to Filter Options. If it's not disabled, click on it and wait for the page to reload.

Click on Filter Options.

From the “- Select Type -” drop-down menu select console.

In the Search textbox type Akeeba and click the button with the magnifying class next to it.

You now see the Console - Akeeba Backup plugin. Click on it.

Set the following:

  • Status: Enabled
  • Access: Public

Click on the Save & Close button in the toolbar.
