Hello,

akeeba control panel says that version of akeeba backup is core instead of professional. Is that normal? should it not be akeeba backup pro?

This means you have Core, not Professional. Install the Professional version on top of it twice in a row, without uninstalling before or in between.

As to why it happened, there are two possibilities.

The most likely possibility is that you or someone else with admin access installed the Core version on accident, possibly even without realising they were doing that. The tricky thing about that is that by definition the person who did that will have no recollection of doing that. The User Actions Log may help, as long as the installation/update was manual, not automatic (e.g. through a third party service or software).

The other far less common possibility is that somehow you ended up with two update sites for Akeeba Backup –Core and Pro– and the one that ultimately gave the download URL was the Core one. Go to System, Update, Update Sites and check if there are multiple Update Sites for Akeeba Backup. If there are, keep the one whose URL ends with pro.xml.
