Are there issues with the Akeeba update server? I get an error when trying to update Akeeba Backup. (Server error 403 - Download failed). It might be a temporary issue, I will try again later, but just wanted to let you know about this.

Nope. I removed the 9.9.7 release as it had a problem with old MySQL/MariaDB database. We have already released 9.9.8. The idea is that by replacing the impacted version you'll have to visit our site, see the new version, and decide to either wait for it to appear on your site, or refresh the update information and upgrade to it.

Ah OK. I did an update to 9.9.7 already on some sites. Do I need to manually fix those by downloading 9.9.8 and installing that version? 9.9.8 is not yet available through the Joomla update manager? Or do I need to update all versions (9.9.6 and 9.9.7) manually?

Joomla caches updates for 1 to 24 hours (default: 6). You can either wait, or you can update by manually installing the new version on top of the old one.
