When I click Backup Now, I expected to see a Control Panel Button in the top-left of the screen (like in Joomla 3)...but it's not there.
There is no button to take you back to the control panel page because you can click your browser's back button instead. We removed the button we had in Joomla! 3 because it cannot be disabled during backup. This led a number of people to click on it while the backup is in progress, despite the clear and explicit warning not to do it, then asking why their backup didn't work. Well, ever since we removed that button (Akeeba Backup 9.0, released August 2021 at the same time with Joomla 4.0) we stopped having support requests about this — and nobody even noticed the button wasn't there except you, two years later.
Based on this, the button to go back to the control panel will not be reinstated.
Also, when I created a backend menu item with a type of Backup, there is an Hide Toolbar option and when set to No, there is no toolbar.
This option should have actually been removed for the same reason the Control Panel button has been removed. If the toolbar is active, people click on it and leave the Backup Now page while a backup is running, thereby breaking the backup. This is why this option never actually did anything.
We'll rectify this problem by removing the option. It shouldn't have been left in there anyway.
