Hello Support,
When Akeeba generates a backup, the Akeeba-Joomla backend shows a file size of over 2 GB. However, the actual backup file is only 288 MB in size! If i try to install it on a local server, I get an error message. "The archive file appears to be corrupt, or archive parts are missing. etc."
The backup file was downloaded via FTP. It is also just a solo backup file. No multipart file. The server has enough space.
I use MAMP V 6.8.1 as local server. A number of other Joomla and WP installations have already been implemented with it without any problems.
best regards, Eric

Hello,

do you have other backup profiles? If so, are they using the same output folder or a different one?

If they are using a different output folder, please double check that they are excluding those folders from the other profiles, otherwise you'll end up taking backups of other backups.

Hello Davide,

thank you for the fast reply. I have only one profile with a custom backup folder, which is excluded.

The thing is, that Akeeba shoes a backup filesize from round 2 GB and the generated file is in reality only 288 MB big. The kickstart.php cant open it.

Usually the shown filesize in the Akeeba backend corresponds to the real filesize! What can cause such behave?

I use Akeeba Backup since more than 10 years, but this is new for me.

The backup log is attached to this post.

Here is the backup logfile

mhm.. that sounds a little strange. Can I connect to your site to run some tests?

I have made this ticket private so that only you and me can see the information posted here.

Please provide me with the following information:

  1. The URL to your site's administrator login page
  2. Super User username and password
  3. FTP connection information

Please allow up to one business day (GMT+2 timezone) for me to log in to your site and debug this issue. When I'm done I will post back. Once the issue is fixed, you can revoke my access e.g. by changing the Super Administrator and FTP passwords.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In order for me to help you fast and accurately, please provide the information by copying the form below, paste it into your reply and fill in the information:

----- Access Information Form -- START -----
Super Administrator access

  • URL to site's administrator page (e.g. http://www.example.com/administrator?foobar):
  • Super User username:
  • Super User password:

FTP connection information

  • FTP methods supported (e.g. FTP, FTPS, SFTP):
  • FTP Hostname:
  • FTP Username:
  • FTP Password:
  • FTP Port (if other than 21 for FTP and 22 for SFTP, ask your host):

----- Access Information Form -- END -----

Please make sure that you have tested the Super Administrator connection using a different browser or machine than the one you are using daily. Double check that logging in is possible and that the user has Super User privileges, i.e. it's not a regular Administrator. Make sure that your site does not block whole countries or IP ranges which would make it impossible for me to log in / connect by FTP. Finally, please do make sure that the FTP connection works and that logging in to it I have access to your site's files.

Kindly note that your site connection information and your site content is handled in strict confidence. Not only we are a reputable development company, we are also bound by law (EU GDPR) to do so. After you file your reply, the connection information to your site will be stored in an encrypted, hidden storage area on our site and will be automatically deleted when this ticket is closed. Finally keep in mind that the people providing support to you are the same developers who wrote the software you're using on your site.

Hello,

your backup is made of two parts (see attachment). Did you download both of them and upload them to the new location?

If some parts are missing, the backup will be considered as corrupted since it's missing some data.

Hello David,

oh sorry, but this i have overseen. I never click on "Download" because i know that there is a recommendation to download using FTP. So I klick the backup info box to get the backup filename and then i download it using FTP. In that box where i get the filename is no hint that i have to download two files! It shows only one filename! In the overview is no hint that the backup contains two files neither.

Thank you for the fast help!

Best regards
