EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 10MiB, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Hi,

I have created a dev site to extract some information for a new site I am building in Joomla 4. I have uploaded 2 Joomla 3 backups in the cbtprod.com/backup folder and have configured Akeeba to access the folder, however none of the backups are showing up. I am trying to restore a backup to view back end information and then I will bring the site down. I was successful restoring a previous back up a few weeks ago but I can't seem to get it to work now.

To access the admin section here are the credentials:

U: admin-test
P: GOlotr2023!

Thanks!

The problem is that you have installed Akeeba Backup Core, not Akeeba Backup Professional. Importing backup archives requires Akeeba Backup Professional.

I tried installing Akeeba Backup Professional but your server is currently throwing error 503 (Service Unavailable) when I try to access any page of your site, presumably because it's midnight GMT and there is scheduled maintenance taking place.

Hi Nicholas,

I have Akeeba Backup Pro installed along with the key and downloaded the backup file from the dev site. I then created a fresh installation of Joomla 4 and installed Akeeba Backup Core and Pro, along with the key to the live site. I also uploaded the back up file to restore, however the Akeeba doesn't show the backup (backup folder located in the public_html root folder).

Please note this is on the live server and a different domain:

https://lightontherock.org

You can access the admin dashboard with these credentials:

U: admin-test
P: GOlotr2023!!

I also created an FTP account so you can access the root folder:

Server: ftp.lightontherock.org
U: [email protected]
P: GOlotr2023!!

Thanks!

Hi,

I was going through the restoration process and I created a new database on the live server and after entering the connection information, I am getting this error:

Unknown collation: 'utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci'

After researching it, it appears the destination server might be an earlier version of MySQL server. How can I resolve this error? Thanks!

- Scott

Nicholas,

The destination domain/server I am trying to restore is: https://lightontherock.org. I found a similar ticket and will try to see if this works:

Please check the Force UTF-8 collation on database and Force UTF-8 collation on tables options in ANGIE and uncheck the Allow UTF8MB4 auto-detection option.

This should work, but please note that you will NOT be able to install and use Joomla 4 correctly on an old MySQL server which does not support UTF8MB4.

Joomla 4 requires MySQL 5.6 at the minimum. If your server does not support UTF8MB4  it means that it's a MySQL version older than 5.5.3 or a MariaDB server older than 10.0.0 (that's what Joomla itself checks for), therefore it does not meet Joomla 4's minimum requirements. Joomla might not even upgrade or, even if it does, things won't work correctly in very subtle ways you'll not notice for months, i.e. until it's too late to do anything.
