I have traditionally used a Cron job triggered from my hosting control panel to initiate automatic backups and use Akeeba Backup Pro to file that backup within Amazon S3. This system has worked well for a number of years but I am now looking to check and amend it as necessary if my understanding of the options can be improved!
I have a lifecycle rule applied within the destination folder on S3 which effectively removes stored files after 30 days. I also have Quota sessions set within the Amazon S3 profile. I assume that BOTH rules will apply and therefore I don't need both but should choose one or the other. The benefit of using the quota option is presumably better control of the log files and a more precise picture under "Manage Backups"
I am considering changing things to use more precise age quota management within Akeeba Backup including NOT deleting a backup (say from the 1st of the Month) and otherwise only keeping the last 31 days worth whilst changing the Amazon LIfecycle rule to "Expire" files after say 12 months
Is this correct and is there anything else I should consider before implementing this "upgrade"?
