The CRON job command line has changed in Akeeba Backup 9 for Joomla 4. We no longer ship our own CLI scripts, we use Joomla's CLI application (the file cli/joomla.php) which was introduced with the Joomla 4.0.0 release on August 17th, 2021.

Please go to Components, Akeeba Backup for Joomla, Schedule Automatic Backups and scroll down to see the new CRON command line.

My oversight. I forgot to change the php file in the command.

I had:

/public_html/cli/akeeba-backup.php akeeba:backup:take

Should be:

/public_html/cli/joomla.php akeeba:backup:take

Thank You.

You're welcome! And don't worry, it has happened to pretty much everybody at some point :)

Hello,

After getting the cli backup working, I noticed that the email notification that was sent in j3 is not sending in j4. The email notification is working for the admin tools file scanner. How do I set up for email notification of successful backups?

You will only get an email if something has changed, or there are files with a non-zero Threat Score not already marked as safe.

If you want to receive an email every time the scan runs you can remove the 1>/dev/null from the CRON job and set up your CRON jobs to email you when they run. Ask your host, it's usually an option on the same page of your hosting control panel where you set up the CRON jobs themselves.

I am getting the Emails from my server as the CRON job executes.

The email notification I was referring to was the one sent from the Joomla side.

Yes, we have stopped sending an email on every scan, we only send an email when something has changed, or there are files with a non-zero Threat Score not already marked as safe.
