Sorry to bother you, been trying to solve this for awhile and searched your docs and previous tickets first.

I have the pro version installed on my basic template sites. When I want to use one of those templates for a new site I run an Akeeba backup and install in a new, separate account on our server.
I also have Admintools Pro installed but I haven't customized any settings there.

Up to about 2 months ago all was fine. But now when I extract some folder permissions are changed to rwxrwxrwx instead of rwxr-xr-x

That causes problems with software updates.

I thought the problem was caused by our server and have been manually trying to find all the effected folders and changing the permissions manually. (I don't know bash)

This time I did a test, an Akeeba backup extract and then also zipped all the folders (from the original site I was duplicating) and moved those into a subfolder on the new install and extracted. You'll see the results in the attached images. The zipped files extracted with the correct permissions.

I am 99% sure I am doing something dumb but can't find anything I have done wrong.

Can you let me know how to stop Akeeba from changing my folder permissions?

Thanks much!

The archive is extracted without setting any permissions to extracted folders and files. The permissions set are defined by the default user mask for the filesystem and what is configured in PHP itself. Please ask your host to check what is going on.

if you have a JPA or JPS archive you can enable the Restore file permissions option to restore the permissions of the files as they were at backup time. Note that this is not going to work with ZIP. That file format does not store permissions as it was originally made for DOS.

Thank you very much! My server tech was unable to find the problem on our server but if I use kickstarter it works. So all is good!
