Description of my issue:

 

None of my Akeeba Backup installs have been updating from 8.0.6 to 8.0.8.  Even if I install 8.0.7 and try to use the Joomla update system then to 8.0.8.

In the process of troubleshooting, I have discovered if I open Options>Live Update and then save (without even changing the Download id) I am then able to use the Joomla update system to update Akeeba Backup to the latest.

That’s a Joomla bug. If you check our News section you’ll see I have a long technical article explaining all the bugs I’ve found in Joomla regarding extension installation and extension updates. One of these is how Joomla is losing the download ID. Some of that has been fixed in the months since I wrote this article but most problems remain. Note that I’ve been reporting these issues for eight years. If Joomla won’t at least acknowledge them how can they ever be fixed?

It sounds like it should not be a problem again between my saving each key on each site and also the way you have addressed things with FOF 4.
