Akeeba Backup for Joomla!

Okay, I don't know what to do anymore. Akeeba updates costs me a lot of extra time, due to bugs in Joomla ?! 

FYI I only have problems with Akeeba updates, non of the other extentions....

Again afther update 8.0.3 the backup before update function is gone, see my ticket #34735

 

I did turn off/on the plugin and reinstalled akeeba several times... but the function is gone. 

I happend to have 2 sites that still had version 3.9.24 and I updated them, but backup on update didn't show up....

 

Alle the other FOF, and Akeeba update errors I indeed enjoyed them all today. 

 

What should I do?

Hello,

please download the latest dev release (https://www.akeeba.com/download/developer-releases/akeebapro.html), there was a bug preventing the message of the backup on update being displayed.

That should fix your issue.

Hi, thank you for your answer. It is not compleet;

there was a bug preventing the message of the backup on update being displayed

it was NOT only the message that was not displayed, the option was not working either. 

 

I am not that happy with dev software on production sites, wen will the release be?

I'm sorry, what I meant was "the backup on update was not working in current release". There was a bug that was returning always FALSE on a check about user permissions, so the feature will never ever have a chance to run.

At the moment we do not have any new releases planned in the near future, you can always manually trigger a backup before performing the update.

I am sorry, I see many Akeeba releases with fewer and minor bug fixes. I think this is a very important one where every Akeeba user is making use of I believe. 

The chance of an update being carried out without a backup is too great.
Can I still ask you to perform this update quickly?

Hi, okay, the next update of Joomla is there, we are two weeks further. Is there any chance there will be an update of Akeeba backup, so the BU on update will work again?

The game gets even better. I just saw that the update 8.0.4 fixing the problem is there, but non of my websites is able to show this update. 

Some sides having 8.0.2 keep on showing 8.0.3 as the latest update....

As you discovered, we just released a new version of Akeeba Backup to address the issue. Updates are handled directly by Joomla, most likely you have to purge the update cache and fetch them again to see the new versions being available, or wait for it to expire.
