Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I did a stupid thing. I ran a backup site restoration. I should not have run a restore on the site this way. I thought this would be easier.

I do not know where Akeeba Backup Installer is. I didn't know there was a second step to restoring.  There are no instructions at that step where to get to Akeeba Backup Installer.

I see that one of the earlier tickets mentioned that it is in a directory of my site. Am I supposed to browse to that site?

nyocca

I cannot visit my site. In stakes me to a message that I am not authorized.

This is  what I see on a page I am keeping open--

Do not close this window or navigate to another page while the archive extraction is in progress

The extraction was completed successfully

You must now run the Akeeba Backup Installer (ABI). Do not close this window!. After the restoration is over, close ABI's window and click the new Finalise Restoration button below to remove the installation directory and begin using your restored site.

If, however, you are restoring to a remote site do not click either button. Instead, visit the restoration script's URL at http://www.yoursite.com/installation/index.php. After the restoration is over, click on "Remove the installation folder" link on the restoration script's final page or, if this fails, remove the installation directory from that site using your favourite FTP application.

 Run the site restoration script

Ok. I have solved my immediate issue. I think if I had read the instructions ahead of restoring, I would have realized that you mean that I needed to add a restore.php exception in my .htaccess. It would have been nice to know that. I have admin tools and it would be relatively easy. It would be nice if I knew earlier.

Thanks for Akeeba Backup and Admin Tools.
