Hi guys,

Joomla Site Name: "507 Panamá"
Akkeba Backup Pro > Configuration > Backup Archive Name: [DATE]-[TIME]-[SITENAME]
Backup saved on Dropbox as: 20180516-172230-.jpa

The SITENAME is missing.

Now, if from  #29673 may 2018 the PHP situation is not changed and the workaround is still to just fill manually the Site name.

Please, Can you consider, if viable by Akeeba Backup, to automatically replace Site Name accented letters (the ones that PHP doesn't seem to like) with normal letters into Backup Archive Name when [SITENAME] is called ?

Many Thanks for your attention!

Joomla and PHP have no problem with accented or international characters. They use UTF-8 under the hood.

The problem is we were trying to replace some characters which were invalid in the context of Windows filenames from the site name. Unfortunately, this code was written in 2012 when PHP support for Unicode was a bit iffy at best. The way it works ends up replacing the site name with a single dash. This code should have been revised last January when we dropped support form PHP 5.3.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I will address it in version 7.5.0 scheduled for release between Christmas and New Year's.
