EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Hi,

As described in the topic im trying to set up an automatic backup for my page but when my provider does not have cronjobs so I cant use the recommendet system. With webcron.org the backup itself does work like shown in the video tutorial but it seems like the post processing does not become active and upload the backup to my ftp server. Trying to midigate this i set up the archiver engine to immediatly upload to my server but i get the error message from that it cant create the installation folder and the backup fails. On the server an installation folder pops up but after that no files are written in there.

If there are any tried an tested methods for doing this I would be very greatful if you would tell me, I could not find any specific documentation on this topic.

Thank you very much

Max

Hello,

looking at the error message, it seems there's a permission or connection error while trying to create new elements on the remote server. First of all, try to manually create a folder on the remote server using the same FTP account. If it fails, it means that such FTP account has no privileges to perform such actions.

If it works, most likely it means there's a connection error. FTP protocol is a bit weird: there are two connections, one for the commands (ie directory listing) and another one for transfers. The first channel uses a fixed port, while the second one uses a random port, sometimes this channel is blocked. This means that when you run the Test connection button, you got a successful result, but then you're not able to upload anything.

Please try to toggle the option Use Passive mode inside the post-processing engine. If it's still failing, try to use FTP using cURL.

If it still fails, it means there's a firewall blocking the connection. It's very difficult that a host will change his firewall rules, in this case I'd suggest to use SFTP which is way more secure and has everything in one single channel, sparing you several headaches.
