As you can tell, this site is in need of migration to current versions. Rather than do this on the production site, I want to do the migration in a development site in case of issues. Toward that end, the first step was to use Akeeba for the backup. However, the file was not created because of size (114 GB). Previous backups (over three years old) are just shy of 600 MB. I attach the log file of the failed backup.

Can I accomplish my goal of restoring the site using the option to "backup main site database (SQL only)"? This process worked today (I tried to upload a 2nd zipped logfile, but could not). If you need it, let me know how to provide it.

LOL  I think I found the problem:

DEBUG |200808 17:23:43|-- Resuming adding file <root>/php-errors.log to archive from position 3533715975 (total size 363179386560)

The backup process gave it a valiant try before you ran out of disk space.  You should probably exclude that file from the backup.  I'm not sure how you would go about reducing the size of that log file, your host could probably help you with that.

Dale-thank you. That did the trick. now monitoring the size of the error log and will address errors with migration. Closing ticket.
