Package Update: There was an error installing an extension: com_akeeba-core.zip

Receive this message in one subdomain when trying to update to Akeeba current version. Did download full core zip file to install-got the same message. Last backup on site was 2/18/2020; log file attached. Should have been backup on 3/18 and 4/18.

This is actually a Joomla! error. The installation and updates are done through Joomla!. We are required to use Joomla!'s installer - warts and all - on pain of being removed from the Joomla! Extensions Directory.

You should make sure that all of your site files have the proper permissions. If that is not possible, enable the FTP layer in Joomla!;s Global Settings.
