Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Looked at : at a similar Akeeba issue that focused on SQL*. Tried that and that didn't work.

When I try to upgrade the error I got was: please see screen grab*.

Tried to upgrade via drag and drop and also the update option. Both gave me a different error message. I was able to update admin tool and system ticket so not sure what the issue is with akeeba backup.

*Apologies for the vagueness but when I want to put in additional information, I was getting 403 errors. This includes not providing screen grab in the initial post.

The problem has the same root cause as the other ticket you already looked into. One of the files in Akeeba Backup's folder cannot be deleted and that prevents Joomla from continuing with the update.

Try deleting the files .htaccess and web.config from the administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup folder on your site and retry the update.

If that fails again, please also delete the following folders before the update:
  • actionlog/akeebabackup
  • installer/akeebabackup
  • quickicon/akeebabackup
  • system/akeebaupdatecheck
  • system/backuponupdate

FYI:

  • actionlog/akeebabackup-> location: html/joomla/plugins/actionlog
    installer/akeebabackup-> location: html/joomla/plugins/installer
    quickicon/akeebabackup > location: html/joomla/plugins/quickicon
    system/akeebaupdatecheck-> location: html/joomla/plugins/system
    system/backuponupdate-> location: html/joomla/plugins/system

Delete everything and still got an error.

It looks like Joomla does not have write access to many files in Akeeba Backup's various component and plugin folders.

Keep a copy of your backups.

Then delete the administrator/components/com_akeeba and components/com_akeeba folders under your site's web root (html/joomla).

Had trouble with Filezilla and 550 delete error.
Finally was able to delete the files.
Upload the latest version and got:

Warning
JInstaller: :Install: Can't find XML setup file.

Message
Installation of the package was successful.

Despite the message and error, I was able to conduct a backup and got it working.

Since you have a working backup now, please contact your host and ask them to make sure that all your files and folders are owned by the same user. You seem to have a mixed bag of ownership and permissions which causes all sorts of issues with file operations.
