Hello,

I have used the Pro version for a month and it's been really easy to setup on my normal host's server a backup job with transfer to Google Drive. It works so well.

But yesterday I tried to create a similar job at a Joomla website on the servers of the host One.com, and then the authenitfication process failed displaying this message:

403. That’s an error.
Error: access_denied
Application: Akeeba Backup and Akeeba Solo

The Google Drive account is completely new and made only for this purpose, i e there's no other Akkeba Backup directed to this Google account.

I don't know if it has to do with the host One.com. Their servers need special setup for the backup itself, so could there be something in their server setup that prevents the Akkeba Backup from connecting to cloud systems?

Or is this something that you already have a solution for?

Any help is much appreciated!

Best regards

matzah
Additional information:

I can't get any help from the host One.com support. They keep telling me I need to use FTP (!). But this can't be right, can it?

This error actually comes from Google Drive itself. It believes that your login doesn't have access to the Google Drive you are trying to access. That's weird but a Google search tells me that it's actually... not at all uncommon! Everything I've read boils down to delete your browser's cache and cookies or try using a different browser. So maybe try that?

Also, no, using FTP is not the solution and it has nothing to do with what you asked them. I have no words.

Thanks!

I have tried to use a browser I never use: MS Edge. Ended in error 403

I emptied all kinds of web traces in my Chrome browser: At first I got the option to choose which Google Account I wanted to use, next step ended in error 403. See attached file (excuse me for the Swedish language in GUI)

I have done this connection twice on other websites (and another host) without any of these problems.

Any suggestions?

There seems to be nothing wrong with our setup for Google Drive but Google thinks there is. I mean, it works for literally everyone else except your secondary user account. Since this problem comes from Google and we can't reproduce it with any other account I have to conclude the problem is at Google's side and you should contact them for support. Sorry. There's only that much we can do.

Or maybe use something more reliable than Google Drive instead? Dropbox and OneDrive are more stable that Google Drive and offer sync to your computer as well. If you want something even more reliable BackBlaze B2 is really cheap without sacrificing speed or reliability.

Thanks for your reply,

I'll problably do as you suggest, i e try another Cloud storage. BackBlaze seems interesting.
