Hi guys,
I've an interesting one here.
This site seems to be running Akeeba Core 3.10.2. It's not a site that I generally work on, last time I did any work for this client was in December 2018 and one of the things I did was to update Akeeba to 6.3.2 (apparently, although the site doesn't seem to be running that newer version).

There are (not surprisingly) a bunch of issues, and I'm not quite sure what the correct fix is.

The Components - Akeeba screen says Akeeba Backup Core 3.10.2 (2014-03-09), and says the output directory is not writable. (see attached screenshot).

The Extensions - Manage - Manage screen shows (see screenshot)
- Action Log - Akeeba Backup plugin 6.6.1 as unpublished.
- Akeeba administrator component 3.10.2 as published
- Akeeba Backup Package site package 6.6.1 as published

The Extensions - Manage - Update Sites screen shows (see screenshot)
- Akeeba Backup Core (http://cdn.akeebabackup.com/updates/abcore.xml) Administrator Component , published.
- Akeeba Backup Core (https://cdn.akeebabackup.com/updates/pkgakeebacore.xml) Akeeba Backup package, unpublished.
- Akeeba FEF unpublished
- Akeeba FOF 3.x unpublished

What should I do to correct these inconsistencies, and get 6.6.1 working properly?
Thanks
Nicola

Hello,

first of all, is Akeeba Backup working? If you double check your output folder, can you take a backup correctly?

The version you had installed is VERY old (I mean REALLY REALLY old), and a gazillion of things have changed in the meantime:
- We refactored the engine 3 times
- We moved from a single component to a package (that's why you see different items in the extensions page)
- We deprecated and removed several plugins
- We created a new CSS framework for our components
... and many more that I can't even remember

So it's "normal" to see strange things happen, the most important thing is that Akeeba Backup should keep working as expected.

Hi Davide,

I haven't tried doing a backup, the version is so old I don't expect it would work. Like I said, I thought that it had been updated, yet version 6.6.1 is showing in the manage screen but doesn't seem to be active.

I need to know what steps to take to get 6.6.1 to be the version used, and not the horrendously old version. Should I uninstall
Akeeba and reinstall a new version, or is it just a matter of disabling the old Akeeba component in the Manage list, and enabling the Akeeba package file elements in the Manage extensions list?

Please let me know.
Regards
Nicola

All our updates are backward compatible, so you can simply install it on top of the previous one.
If you really want to be 100% sure everything is fine, I'd suggest you to export your backup profile (so you won't loose your settings), uninstall Akeeba Backup, install the new version and then import again your backup profiles.
