Akeeba backup has a plugin that backs up pages before joomla is updated. It would be useful to include a NOTE field in the plugin settings where I can describe such backups.

I don't know how others are working, but when I make a backup, in NOTE I will describe why: before joomla update, before VM upgrade, before product price changes etc. So in this case I would like to set note in plugin: before joomla update :)

I think you have a good point. I need a clarification. Are you talking about the backup Description (the short "title" of the backup) or the backup Comment (the long field of free-form HTML)? I'm asking because we can definitely do the Description as a plugin option, I have to think about whether the Comment would make sense.

OK. I'll look into this.

Can I please ask why don't you use the description as a means to communicate what changed in a backup on top of or instead of the comment?

The reason I am asking is that I want to get rid of one of these fields in a future version of Akeeba Backup (probably version 8, around late 2021). The most likely candidate is the Description fields that nobody seems to be using. To me that's counter-intuitive. The Description is always shown in the Manage Backups page whereas viewing the Comment requires an additional non-obvious and poorly discoverable interaction. At this point I know I am missing something that the people who use my software see clearly so I'd like to come back to you, my users, to find out what it is I am missing. Thank you in advance!

Can be a description. But when I update joomla and I have BoU enabled it won't let me create the description, but it will start the backup process right away.

Correct, you don't get the chance to enter a description. I can have a plugin option to set the description to something specific to the backup on update such as "Automatic backup before updating Joomla! (Backup on Update)". I'll see if it's possible to have the old and / or new Joomla versions as variables -- that depends on what Joomla makes available to me.

Thank you very much for the feedback! It's much appreciated.
