Hi guys,
I have just started on the build of a new site, I used a quickstart package from LTheme and it had Akeeba Core installed. So I installed Akeeba Pro overtop of it (no problems).

However, today I see there is a new release of Akeeba 6.5.0. In the "Updates" section of the backend it is showing the update for the CORE, not PRO.

I've attached some screenshots of the updates screen, the Update Sites screen, and the Akeeba screen.

Why is the Updates page showing the Core update? I don't want it to install the Core (free) version, I want to upgrade to the Pro version. I have entered my Download ID already.

Nicola

This has to do with the way Joomla caches the checks for extension updates (the updates are not managed by Akeeba Backup itself). Go to Extensions, Manage, Update and click on Clear Cache.

Then click on the Update Sites in the left hand column. Make sure there's an Akeeba Backup Professional item and that it's active. Moreover, make sure that the Akeeba Backup Core item is either not there at all or, if it's there, it's inactive. If you do not see the Akeeba Backup Professional item at all go to Components, Akeeba Backup and click on the Reload Update Information button in the right-hand column.

Then go back to Extensions, Manage, Update and click on Find Updates. You should now only see an update to Akeeba Backup Professional 6.5.1 (the new version I just released).

Hi Nicholas,

I had already cleared the cache and refreshed the update list several times before submitting the ticket. I even cleared the site cache (under the System menu). I just clear the cache on the Updates page again just now, same thing it lists:
Admin Tools Professional package
Site Package 5.3.1 5.3.2 N/A Update https://cdn.akeebabackup.com/updates/pkgadmintoolspro.xml
https://www.akeebabackup.com/component/ars/?view=Items&release_id=3047

Akeeba Backup Core package
Site Package 6.4.2.1 6.5.1 N/A Update http://cdn.akeebabackup.com/updates/pkgakeebacore.xml
https://www.akeebabackup.com/component/ars/?view=Items&release_id=3052

In the Update Sites tab, there is ONLY an Akeeba Backup Professional item listed (no Akeeba Backup Core item at all).

Do you want me to go to Components, Akeeba Backup and click on the Reload Update Information button in the right-hand column, then go back to Extensions, Manage, Update and click on Find Updates?

Yes, please. This does not just go through the API, it double checks the database and deletes the freaking update rows from it if Joomla can't be bothered to remove them on its own.

On top of that, please remember to clear the administrator cache in Joomla. The queries for updates are cached there for hours.

If all else fails wait for at least 24 hours and go through purge and update fetch again.

Hi Nicholas, I did all the steps above, which didn't make any difference, so I waited another 24 hours, purged the cache, cleared the cache under Extensions-Updates and it is still showing the Core update in the list of Updates available. See attached.

What should I do now? Uninstall Akeeba Pro and see if Akeeba core still appears in the list? Assuming it disappears, reinstall Akeeba Pro (older version) and see if it picks up that there is a new version available for Pro?

I uninstalled Akeeba Pro completely, then reinstalled the same pro version (6.4.2.1) and it is all working fine - the update for 6.5.1 (pro) showed up in the Update list and the update worked.

You can close this ticket.

I guess Joomla's updates were completely borked on that site. I've seen it before, clicking purge not purging the cache and upgrading components not updating the Update Sites database entries. I'm glad it's working now.
