Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I am having issues getting a Cron Job on our 1&1 Ionos server to execute
Manual backups work fine but I cant sort out how to get it going automatically
Do you have any experience of this?

Hello,

can you please give me more details about the error you are receiving?
Does it run (with an error) or it doesn't run at all?
In the control page of your host, do you have to specify an URL or a path to the script to execute?

Hi Davide

I do not receive an error, it just appears not to run

The 1&1 system is a URL to specify and I have tried the ones I could obviously see from the support information.
Using the 1&1 test cron function it says OK but no further details

I have been able to get it to work using webcron but would prefer not to have to rely on an external system like them

Cheers

Allan

I'm sorry, but if you can only put an URL (and not a path) you're in bad luck.
This means that 1&1 server will load the URL once, with a short timeout. That's useful for short jobs, like pinging a site to check if it's online, not for backups.
During a backup process we're going to perform several redirects; your only option is to keep using the external service WebCron.
