Description of my issue:

Hi,

I just paid to get akeeba backup pro & then restored an earlier version of my website following your video:

https://www.akeebabackup.com/videos/1212-akeeba-backup/1698-restoring-previous-backup.html

following the instructions I clicked "run the site restoration script" (in attachment 1)

doing this leads to an 403 error (attachment 2). can you please advise how to get this working as my site is now down.

I recently purchased & installed akeeba pro tools & am not sure if this has caused the issue.

thanks

Hello,

I guess you have used the Htaccess Maker features (or ran the Quickstart Wizard) in Admin Tools; this will block any direct access to any folder, like in the case of installation.
I'd suggest you to manually rename the .htaccess file to htaccess_disabled, run the restoration and then rename it back.
That should do the trick.

As Davide said, this is caused by your .htaccess file preventing access to the installation folder which contains the restoration script. You can fix it by following the steps below.

Go to your host's Control Panel.

Use their File Manager to see the files of your site. IMPORTANT: Make sure you choose the option to view hidden files.

Go into your site's web root folder, typically named public_html, htdocs, www or something similar. If you're not sure, ask your host.

Find the file named .htaccess (please note the dot in front of the name) and rename it to htaccess.bak.

Now visit your site's installation folder as shown in the the second screenshot you sent us.

Click Next until the process is done.

Click the button to remove the installation folder.

Your site's restoration is complete.

If you have trouble following these instructions please let us know; we'll make the ticket private and ask you for information so we can do this process for you.
