#1 - We can fix this. It's messy, but doable.
#2 - Paranoia is your friend. Before we do anything else, download those backup archives from your server to your local computer using FTP in binary mode. One of the steps that is coming up is going to delete them and we don't want to lose them. Did I mention that paranoia is your friend?
Davide recognized the error message, we restored one version of Joomla! over another, 3.7 over 3.6, for example. You cna't do that. When you change minor versions, you have to delete the files first. Joomla! moves things around to different folders at the minor version change and when you get both versions, bad things happen.
- Download your backup archives to you local computer. The next step will DELETE them.
- Delete all of the file in your site. FTP will do it , but is pretty slow. Your cPanel file manager will probably be quicker.
- Upload the backup archive to the root of your site.
- Upload kickstart.php (available from our Downloads page, you want the Core version, not Pro, for this job) to the root of your site.
- Go to www.mysite.com/kickstart.php to start Kickstart and follow the screen instructions.
- Kickstart will extract the files from the archive and then hand off to the restore script. At that point it should look exactly like the Manage Archives restore process.
That should do it!
