Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I got a message saying my version of Akeeba Bachup was older than 90 days so probably needed updating.
It didnt appear in updates
I downloaded from my subscription page (professional version)
Installed it normally. Added my ID.
Clicked on configuration wizard.
The file does not progress - normally the bars turn green. They dont.
I dont think Im doing anything different to the updates I made in the past.

It worked as expected on my system when I tested it. There are two possibilities that come to mind:
  1. Clear your browser cache. If you have a site level cache or PHP cache, you will need to manually clear them as well. You would have to ask your host how to do that. When you get older versions of the software in the cache and newer on the disk, all sorts of strange things can happen.
  2. Download Akeeba Backup from our Downloads page and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. Do not uninstall. That will cause you to lose all your settings and possibly your stored backup archives. This trick usually works around a problem in the Joomla! installer where it forgets to copy all of the files during an installation or upgrade.

I'm afraid Dale is wrong .

That's the first time in four years that phpStorm's File Watchers feature failed catastrophically. It also coincided with the time I was making the release of Akeeba Backup. Half of the JavaScript files are empty. The same files which I checked with our automated tests before making the 5.6.2 release. In the 90" between the conclusions of the tests and building the release apparently phpStorm's File Watcher feature tried to minify the Javascript files again, failed and caused the packaging error. I have no words... The entire reason for the automated tests before releasing it to prevent exactly this kind of issues. I think I might go buy a lottery ticket after this.

I am not going to release a new version. I am just going to repack version 5.6.2. Please retry downloading it in 30'.

Tried it. Didnt work I am afraid.

I have reverted to 5.6.1 for now.

Please see Nicholas' reply above. I'm not sure why it worked for me and not for you. This failure should have affected both of us.

Thanks Nicholas - I didn't notice your reply before posting. I have no doubt it will work later (I have used Akeeba backup for years and never had an issue before).

Hi Dale - I still get the error. Could you post on when its updated? Happy to give you back office access if it helps.

Please don't use Akeeba Backup 5.6.1 and 5.6.2. It looks like something is wrong with the machine I'm using for the releases. Even though the packages I create locally look correct, the upload seems to not be correct. I am going to switch to my backup machine and release version 5.6.3 tonight.
