I understand there will be no replies on the weekend, but didn't think it would hurt to post now.

I have a Hostgator account where Akeeba Cron jobs have worked for years. Now I have a second Hostgator account, with Cron jobs set up identically, where they don't. The cron job tries to execute, so the path to the PHP executable is correct. I receive a Cron email that says "Could not open input file: [correct path]/public_html/[mysite.com]/cli/akeeba-backup.php".

The only thing that I know is different is that I have an SSL certificate for the second account. It has not been attached to the website (I'm still considering ramifications) and the site still runs under "http".

I also tried the alternate backup .php file with the same result.

Do you have any ideas of what might be underneath this problem? Could it have anything to do with the (unused) SSL certificate hanging out there?

Thanks for the help!

Does the job stop right away or does it process for a while? Is there anything in your Administer Backups screen?

Hostgator does kill CRON jobs after x number of seconds. I had to use a third party CRON service for two of my sites when I hosted at Hostgator. The time limit was my first thought, and it may still be right, but the error message steers me in a different direction.

Thanks, Dale, for the Sunday reply!

Yes, it stops right away ... or at least it seems to, since the only evidence I have is the time stamp on the email I receive from the cron job's execution.

Nothing shows up in the administer backups screen ... the backup is never "pending" and there is no database entry, log or evidence it ever started.

Sorry, I know I'm not giving you much to go on. I may have to install the SSL certificate just so I can safely try automated front-end backups (and hope that those work!)

Kip,

We don't reply quite as quickly or consistently on weekends but usually one of us looks at what's going on. Nicholas is not in tomorrow so Davide will be buried if we don't clear a few of them. There are no responses during Steeler's games. :-)

This is not Hostgator killing the CRON job, it's not getting that far.

Please double check the permissions on the files in /cli. That's a real stretch but it would give you that message if the permissions were wrong.

And please double check the path. My notes on my Hostgator CRON jobs show that the path started with /home/<account name>/public_html/etc.

Dale,

Thanks again and mea culpa. The path was indeed wrong. The [mysite] section of my older Hostgator path noted in an earlier post was necessary because they were addon domains in the older account. I have no addon domain in this newer Hostgator account, rendering this a moronic question.

It's amazing how much time you can consume by being an idiot. I just didn't see that no matter how often I checked it.

Thanks for your Sunday time, once again, and go Steelers :) !

That's why we ask if ti's plugged in, once in a great while, it isn't. No problem.

Yeah, my Steelers didn't show up for the OT today, the Soldier Field curse continues. :-(
