I installed an instance of my website after creating a backup of my live site. Re-installing it on my localhost with kickstart was nog problem.
After making some changes on the site I wanted to make a backup, but the process stops after about 85% with the message

Timeout while backing up
Error
There is already an issue with the backup engine saving its state. Please fix it before continuing.
Please try setting min execution time to 1, max execution time to 10 seconds (or if the PHP timeout is less than 10 seconds, use 75% of the PHP timeout), runtime bias 75%

I followed the instruction (min execution time to 1, etc) but without success

There are many other websites I installed and backuped on my localhost ( using Uwamp ) environment without any problem so I guess this is OK.

What to do?

Hello,

looking at your log file, you're trying to upload the whole archive (more than 350Mb) to your FTP server in one shot.
Since the archive is very large, you get a timeout issue.
Please set a part size of 10Mb and try again: you can find such option inside the Configuration Page, in the Archiver Engine section.

In your live site you can put a larger part size (try with 50Mb) since server upload speed is way faster than your personal one.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will try that.

In the meantime I have 'solved' the problem this way: I installed PHP version 7.1.0 on my localhost, and the backup process workd fine.

But maybe you can have a look at the error using php7.0.7 for other users?

Thanks,
Peter

Again, the error occurs while trying to upload to the remote server, that's not related to your PHP version.
Most likely the new PHP version has a default configuration with no time limit, so it can run endlessly.
