Please remember that updates are discovered and installed by Joomla!, not Akeeba Backup. The error you are receiving comes from Joomla!, not our software. I can tell you that the problem is not in the packaging of the software since it's already been downloaded and successfully installed thousands of times (not to mention that we do frsh and update installations before release).

Unfortunately, Joomla's failure messages during extension installation are completely useless in determining what is wrong. You will have to the suggestions in our extension installation troubleshooting page. The topics on that page which may be relevant to your site are:
  • You get an error about the package not being uploaded to the server
  • Checking your temporary directory
  • Enable FTP

Finally, I'd suggest trying using PHP 7.0 instead of 7.1. While our software fully supports PHP 7.1 for several months already (and we do test our software on PHP 7.1), Joomla! has only recently worked on PHP 7.1 support. We have found that sometimes extension installation and/or update issues can be solved by switching back to PHP 7.0. We expect that to change sometime in the Joomla! 3.8 release cycle thanks to all the ongoing work in supporting modern PHP versions in Joomla!.

Hello

Thank you for your response

I checked the PHP setting information...
upload_max_filesize = 64M
post_max_size = 64M
==> So I think this is good

I was in version PHP 7.1 ... I modified my settings to be in 7.0
==> I have the same error (Unable to write entry)

I change my installation method:
- Downloading the package to the "tmp/abackup" folder
- Installation with the "Install from a directory" option

==> Now the installation is OK !!!!!
Definitely an access problem with my "tmp" folder.

Please go to the page I linked you in my previous response. Look under "Checking your temporary directory". If you follow these instructions you should be able to fix your tmp directory.

Thanks Nicolas

I tried to understand and make some changes, especially change the permissions (/ tmp to chmod 777)
Same error ...
I certainly have a problem with Joomla, not with Akeeba backup.
So I'll try on a more specialized Joomla forum.
Excuse me for disturbing you.

This post can be closed here in this forum (unless a person would have the solution ... ;-) )

I have a solution...

I deleted the "tmp" folder and then I recreated it.
Everything is OK now. I do not have any more error !!!!!
