EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

The backup is fine and can restore via kick-start however when i try to restore in Joomla back-end I see this error and no log is created for me to send you.

Description of my issue:

The extraction has failed

Extraction of the backup archive has failed.
The last error message was:

Invalid AJAX data: Invalid archive type or extension in file

Is this a jps archive, an encrypted archive?

.jpa regular archive.

I recall one instance where restore.php didn't get updated and the extraction couldn't handle the new jps format. Let's reinstall Backup anyway. Please download it again and install Akeeba Backup twice, back to back, without doing anything in between. Do not uninstall, that will cause you to lose all your settings and records and possibly your stored backup archives.

Are you doing these two extracts on the same server? I could see this if Kickstart was on Linux and the site was on a Windows server. An invalid character in a file extension would do it.

Are you using the "Ignore most errors" flag on Kickstart?

Double install done with nothing in between.
Yes both extracts are on the same server.
Are you using the "Ignore most errors" flag on Kickstart? U just upload kickstart and run kickstart.php by clicking on it. So whatever the default is.

Issue still persists.

Please install version 5.3.4 which was released over the weekend. This should fix the problem. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
