EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Akeeba Backup fails almost always (could see only twice succsseful backup).

Attached is a zip file containing two logfiles from the failing backups.

Thanks in advance for any support.

Your PHP version is not what you think it is:
INFO |170402 00:01:03|PHP Version :5.4.45
You should check your .htaccess file to see if you are forcing that 5.4 version there. That is probably not part of the current problem.

What kind of backup are you trying to do? It looks like a database only backup, but the log does not say.

Hi Mr. Brackin,

Thanks for your quick response.

The system information and the hosted site setup, shows PHP 5.5.38.

It has already many times succeeded with the current setup.

Our setup by parameter “Backup Type“ is “Full site backup“, so it should backup complete site.

If you look in Joomla!'s system information, you will find the site is running on PHP 5.4. That isn't important now, but it will be in the future.

Please check in Configuration, in the Advanced Settings section, the "Embedded restoration script" should be ANGIE for Joomla! sites.

I think you may have a bad upgrade of Akeeba Backup. There are things that should be in the log that are not. It looks like the backup is skipping steps. Please download Akeeba Backup Professional from our Downloads page and install it twice, back to back, without doing anything else in between. Do no uninstall. That will cause you to lose all your settings and Manage Backups records and may also delete your stored backups. This "install twice" trick works around a Joomla! installer issue where it sometimes fails to copy all of the files during an installation or upgrade.

Hi,

Attached you will find the system Information and Advanced settings screenshots.

I'll wait with the reinstallation until you see the screenshots, maybe there is also something else to be setup.

The attachment did not come through. You may need to zip them to get them to post. If it just won't post, you can put them on a file service such as Dropbox and give me a link.

The PHP version is not causing the backup to fail. Please go ahead and do the reinstall.

We are not supposed to get different versions of PHP between Joomla! and Akeeba Backup. How are you starting this backup? Is this a back end backup or a CRON job?

You can update the email address with the "My Profile" link at the top of the page. That's something that I can't change.

Don't know why the previous profile details were not kept, but now should be correct.

Hi,
I have successfully reinstalled twice the Akeeba Backup Pro software as suggested by you.

I have triggered the backup, I'm now asked to provid the ANGIE Password, where can I get it from ?

Thanks.

Nissim

dlb
Nissim,

At that point during the backup you are setting the ANGIE password. You probably do not want to do that. That feature is mainly intended to keep visitors from playing with the restore if they happen to stumble on your site while you are in the process of restoring it. We have problems sometimes when the browser or password manager automatically fills in the ANGIE password field and then you need a password during the restore. For the backup, just leave the password field blank.

Thank you. That is what I have done last, left it empty.
But it is showing only 25% since arround 30 minutes. Does it really take that long ?

Regards,

Nissim

There should be a field on the screen "Last server response". If that field is just growing and growing, it is probably dead. If the field goes to zero, then increases again, then it is still processing.

The backup process is running since today morning - around 9:00. I can see the field "Last server response xs ago", where x goes up and then back to zero, and so on, but the backup still running (now in Germany - 16:00. Since the backup began, The browser title shows (25%).
Can it still be considered ok ?

Thanks in Advance

Nissim

dlb
Nissim,

That is too long. The backup is still going, but I don't know if I would trust it even if it finished. Please terminate the current backup.

Go to Configuration and click on the Configuration Wizard button at the top of the screen. This will run some tests on your server and set the timing settings to run the backup as fast as possible. If you are using an encrypted archive (jps) it will change it to jpa and you need to change it back. Save the settings and try the backup again.

Most backups just take a few minutes. Of course, there are many factors involved, the size of the site, the speed of the server, if you are doing post processing, etc. But seven hours is not an expected amount of time. After you have a chance to try the backup again, if it is still slow, please zip and post the backup log and I will see if I can spot what is happening.
