Description of my issue:

Hey Hey,

How are you? I seem to be having issues with setting up the Cron for scheduling backups its the first time i set it up and not sure what i'm doing wrong. I'm using Cpanel to insert the commande. i've set it for every five minuites but it doesn't seem to run i'm using this commande

/usr/local/bin/php /home/technet21/public_html/iscstrengthening/cli/akeeba-backup.php

what am i missing?

Hello Alex,

first of all, 5 minutes is too short interval: even if the backup starts, it can't finish before the next execution occurs. Usually backups should be executed once or twice a day.

Regarding your issue, are you sure the path to PHP is correct?
When the CRON command runs, you should receive an email with the output of the command, containing any warning/error. Do you get anything? If you don't get any email, I think the command is not really executed, in this case you should contact your host.

Hey Hey,

Yeah i've set it for 5 min to test to see if i have set it up corectly but i don't seem to get the emails confimring that the cron has been run, how can i figure out if the path is correct, i have other crons running to i know its not related to host but to the way i've set it up which i can see is the problem now

The path seems ok, you should contact your host and ask him to take a look at your logs to see if there's anything wrong with the above command.
