I'd like to offer a suggestion to generate a ".txt" file in the backup directory with the same name as the final backup file (different extension). The .txt. file would contain the notes entered when preparing to do a backup. This would make a very convenient way to keep track of multiple off site backup files, and the txt file would be very small. Could have an option to generate always, only with comment, or never. I'd prefer that the txt file have both crlf codes, since I use Windows, but that's up to you. And, that it's Unicode.

Respectfully,
Stephan

That's yet another file to track in all manage backups and quota operations which is much more complicated than you may think. I know exactly how complicated it is due to the log files.

Besides, that information is stored in TWO places already:
  • Along with the backup record. This lets you read that information in the Manage Backups page. The backup filename is also there along with all the controls to fetch back to server, download, view the log file, etc.
  • Inside the backup, in the installation/README.html file. This way if you only have a couple of backup archives you can extract them locally and see what's going on. The link to this file is also presented in the ANGIE interface.

There are not going to be any additional files added OUTSIDE the backup archive.
